Ever wondered what the Danish word ‘hygge’ means? We reckon these images by Andre Elhay Photography and Fiona Newman Styling sum it up pretty well!

Pronounced ‘hoo-gah’, it’s the feeling of creating intimacy, warmth, cosiness. It’s a state of mind; being present and enjoying the moment. You can’t buy hygge…but you can create it. Please click on an image to enlarge it for details!

We have had a number of clients enquire about using a Nordic Hut as an outdoor bedroom. So, we thought we’d capture some naptime inspiration!

The result is a range of images showing the Mellem hut in a combination of sleeping arrangements, from a single mezzanine above a queen bed, by itself or the hut as a standalone queen-sized bedroom.

Our photo shoot visitor making herself at home!

We were also lucky to have a visitor on the day of the shoot. The neighbour’s very sweet kitten wandered in and out of frame. It’s colouring – right down to the collar it had on – even matched our decor! We’re not saying the shoot was postponed for long while we were patting it, but we were running slightly behind schedule…

Queen sized comfort and cosiness

The bed in these images is a full queen-sized bed and base which, incidentally, is the most popular bed size in Australia. As you can see, there is ample space for further shelving, a bedside table and a reading lamp.

Each of our huts is designed and handcrafted in Melbourne by qualified tradespeople who are passionate about quality. Our signature diamond window reflects our Danish heritage, while windows and doors are secure and lockable. The dual wall system is completely insulated, as is the ceiling, so your hut can handle any weather condition.

Finally, your Nordic Hut is modular built from sustainable materials. Consequently, we can deliver and install your hut anywhere, even in hard-to-access spots.
